LawPAC Impact

Influence Opinions & Decisions Vital to Pennsylvanians

LawPAC is the highly effective bipartisan political action committee that reaches across party lines to support candidates and issues meaningful to our citizens. The strength of LawPAC is the monthly support of its donors, enabling it to contribute regularly to legislators and causes that influence laws essential to Pennsylvanians’ lives.

The impact achieved through LawPAC and the legislative program has been significant—and historic in several cases—not only for Pennsylvanians but also for citizens across the country. The successful battle against Big Tobacco in 1991, which influenced subsequent nationwide tort battles, required marshaling together working men and women of Pennsylvania with membership and labor units to protect our citizens.

An innovative and long-needed Workers’ Compensation Reform bill was created in 2006 through a bi-partisan effort between PAJustice leaders and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. It lowered workers’ comp premiums, streamlined the appeals process and reduced litigation costs—a win for both workers and employers.

As well, LawPAC efforts help make the legislative body understand the ramifications of an onslaught of “boutique immunity” bills that are regularly introduced to erode consumer protections.

Through the LawPAC Fund Development Committee, PAJustice creates and implements strategies to strengthen monthly contributions from donors. This support is vital because it provides a stable and predictable cash flow that enables LawPAC to support candidates in statewide elections who believe in the advocacy system, trial by jury, and tort recovery.
