Our Membership: The Difference Makers

Joel Feldman presents to the Senate the End Distracted Driving campaign, created in honor of his daughter Casey after she was killed by a distracted driver.

The Pennsylvania Association for Justice counts among its membership some of the best and most brilliant trial lawyers in the country. The organization is enriched by its many members around the state who commit to the cause of civil justice, care deeply about their clients’ rights, and work tirelessly to ensure that there is equal access to justice in courts across Pennsylvania even when the costs are high.

“Pennsylvania trial lawyers are some of the most remarkable people I’ve ever met anywhere -- their legal knowledge, political insight and compassion for their clients.“
—Tom Previc, PAJ Director of Public Affairs

PAJ Sections

The specialty practice sections created by PAJ serve as forums through which members network with their peers and discuss issues relating to specific areas of law. Members may choose to belong to any section:

  • Automobile Law Section
  • Future Leaders Section
  • Insurance Bad Faith Section
  • Medical Malpractice Section
  • Paralegal Section
  • Women Trial Lawyers Section
  • Workers' Compensation Section

Sections provide PAJustice members with additional benefits including:

  • List servers
  • Substantive content in PAJustice News
  • Special member directory listings to maximize referrals
  • Quarterly meetings to exchange information on cases, strategies and legislation
  • Selected discounts for books & seminars

The largest section, the Automobile Law Section, was created in 2001 to meet the demands of auto law practitioners. Members belong to the section to utilize its popular e-mail list server with over 500 users. The active members of the Auto Section list server have found it to be among the most important benefits of their PAJ memberships.

Section members pay $250 annually in addition to PAJ member dues.

Connect. Collaborate. Succeed. The Future Leaders Section was formed to meet the unique needs of lawyers who have recently entered into the practice of P.I. law. Members who have been in practice fewer than 15 years receive reduced PAJ dues and are automatically enrolled in the Future Leaders Section.

The section offers many ways to network. Benefit from reduced rates for most PAJ events and CLE. Section members volunteer service and participate in special projects like the End Distracted Driving campaign to help teens make safer driving decisions.

Section membership is FREE with your PAJ dues.

The Insurance Bad Faith Section addresses the needs of trial lawyers practicing in this ever-changing area of the law. The section produces a newsletter, distributes special news alerts, holds periodic meetings and offers an e-mail list server.

Section members pay $50 annually in addition to PAJ member dues.

Launched in 1996, the Medical Malpractice Section was created in response to the needs of members practicing in the field of medical negligence. The section offers a popular list server, defense expert witness bank, special news alerts and reduced rates for selected PAJ seminars and products. Access to the plaintiffs-only e-mail for the Med Mal Section is available to members who meet specific eligibility requirements and who submit an affidavit.

In addition, Med Mal Section members may make inquiries about defense experts to a bank of participating colleagues.

Section members pay $300 annually in addition to PAJ member dues.

Launched in 2018, this growing section is becoming a valuable resource for our paralegal members. These members receive FREE access to a paralegal-only list server.

Section membership is FREE with your PAJ dues.

The mission of the Women Trial Lawyers (WTL) Section is to serve as a network and resource for PAJ women trial lawyers, and to promote, encourage and support PAJ women trial lawyers’ interest in leadership roles within PAJ, their firms, politics and other organizations. Section membership provides access to a popular list server, statewide meetings, and special news alerts.

Section membership is FREE with your PAJ dues.

The Workers' Compensation Section was established to address the needs of members representing claimants. The section elects three members annually to serve on the PAJ Board of Governors. Section membership provides access to a popular list server, statewide meetings, and special news alerts.
